Gene Testing

Gene Testing in a Test Tube

The GeneSight Psychotropic Test

A Personalized Approach to Treating Depression, Anxiety, and ADHD

Finding the right medication for patients with depression or anxiety can be a challenge. Often the process requires a long testing period of trial and error. When we use the GeneSight test to guide treatment decisions, our patients struggling with depression can more quickly achieve successful treatment.

The GeneSight® Psychotropic test analyzes your unique genetic makeup to determine the best medications among those commonly prescribed to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other common mental health conditions.

This test also provides information about dose adjustments or which medications may have an increased risk of side effects based on your metabolism and other genetic factors.

Who Should Take The Genesight Test

  • Patients with a previous medication failure
  • Patients who are experiencing lower than desired medication response
  • Patients who are currently experiencing unwanted side effects
  • Elderly patients and patients with liver damage

The GeneSight Psychotropic Report

Fewer than 50% of patients with depression respond to their first prescribed medication and with each failed medication trial, their treatment intolerance increases. The GeneSight report uses color-coding to show which medicines may be more likely to work for a patient and which may require dose adjustments, may be less likely to work, or may have an increased risk of side effects based on the patient’s genetic makeup.
